What is the difference between a LPN and a RN?

Hey, what is the difference in duties and job activities between an LPN / LVN an an RN (Preferably in Texas)?

  • PLEASE!!!!!!!!! i know that duties are different in each state, so if not in Texas, just try ur best. Also, i am aware of the salary difference and the education difference, so no comments on them.

  • Answer:

RNS are responsible for the LPN in every aspect. If there is a problem with a patient's condition then the LPN reports to the RN and the RN then reports to the doctor. In many states LPNs cannot give IV medications or give blood to patients.

One of the main differences that I noticed (I worked with nurses at a hospital but am not a nurse) is that usually only RNs would start IVs.
