Why am I allergic to Amoxicillin and not Penicillin ?

The rash from Amoxicillin and Penicillin is simply an overload of histamines in your skin that can last for a while after you stop taking these drugs. Other side effects could include swelling of the hands, feet, lips, etc. You can treat these symptoms with an antihistamine.

Stomach upset is not an allergic reaction, though a rash certainly is. You may allergic to a dye or other inactive ingredient in the amoxicillin.
