Does anyone know about Diagnostic Medical Sonography?

Radiology Tech VS Diagnostic Medical Sonography?

  • I am thinking of changing my major. I know from reading around I hear you need a degree in RT before studying Sonography. I'm not the greatest in math or science but with extra time I know I can learn. Also when studying and in the career of both do you have to deal with blood at all? How difficult would these classes be? If anyone has these as a career maybe you can share what your typical day is like. Thanks!

  • Answer:

ctgal has a lot of nerve. Easy and not stressful? I don't think so. Also, a radiologist is a doctor, not a tech. As a rad tech, yes, we deal with blood, vomit, and everything else. We deal with sick and injured people, so of course we get all of that. There are accredited sonography programs that do not require you to be an RT first. http://www.caahep.org/Find-An-Accredited-Program/

I am in the field of Nuclear Medicine and I go to shows for Radiology. It is a growing field and I know it is a stable and pretty easy job. Radiologists alone make alot of $$ and its no a stressful job at all.
