How to become a nurse in the US?

How do I become a neonatal nurse? Help me Plan ahead?

  • Right now I am a Junior in High School. I started High School believing I would become a Veterinarian, but as years passed and I took the Veterinary Science course at my school I realized it isn't really something I would like to do. I always knew I'd either want to work with animals or kids by helping them so I decided I'd love to become a neonatal nurse I know that in order to become a neonatal nurse I need a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) but what does it take? What are good school in California so that I can get my BSN? Also what Classes should I take at school that would help me prepare ahead? My grades aren't too great right now, so would going to a community college for 2 years be a good idea before I go into studying to get my BSN? Or do you think I can just go straight into studying for my BSN? Please help me! Thank youu!! (:

  • Answer:

After high school you need to complete the prerequisites for the BSN program and then you can apply. After you finish your BSN and get your license then you can apply for a job in the area that you want to work in. You may need to take a jobs in other areas first to get some general experience. A neonatal NP has several years of nursing experience and then they have completed a Masters program.
