What are some pros and cons of having an O positive blood type?
-
How much money can I make donating my blood?
-
Answer:
In America you are not paid to donate blood... that is why it is called donating. You do get free things though, like coupons for sandwiches or ice cream as well as free shirts. Pro for having O+: There are a lot of people who could use your help. Donating your blood could save a lot of lives because there are so many people out there who can accept it. O+ is usually called "Universal", but that isn't quite accurate. Con: Once the blood bank finds out you are O+, they will call you every 6 weeks to come in and donate. They are desperate for that blood type and will make sure you give the very first moment you possibly can. But this is also a pro – you do get lots of freebies. Another con is that you are limited in what blood you can receive. If you carry a wallet, you will definitely want to keep a slip of paper next to your ID that states you are O+. That will save a lot of time if you are ever injured and need blood but aren't conscious to tell your blood type.

Not EVERYBODY can use o positive----putting Rh positive blood into someone who's Rh negative could kill them. O positive is still very rare, though, yet most people's bodies will take it. Negatives: If YOU needed a blood transfusion, it would be a little harder to find blood for you. You have a better chance of finding blood than someone who is O negative, though. O negative is the rarest blood type, and o negative people can only have o negative blood. They might die if they got any other kind, but O negatives can also give their blood to anyone else. You have a blood type which most human bodies will accept, but it is still not the rarest one and is therefor a little bit safer to have. AB positive is the safest blood-type; people with AB positive can take blood from any other blood type.
