Is Blood Red Inside The Human Body?

Does anyone know what would happen to the human body if we didn't have red corpuscles in our blood?

  • I know, we would die because we wouldn't be able to breathe. But, let's imagine that, I don't know, in some other universe, there ae beings like us humans but who don't have red blood, meaning that the red corpuscles are missing. Let's say they can breathe. But what changes would the missing of red corpuscles would cause to the body? For example, would it affect skin color or other features? If so, how? If you don't know an answer, yet know a place where I could possibly find an answer, please let me know. Thank you all!

  • Answer:

You'd be able to breathe, but very little of the oxygen would be carried from your lungs to the rest of the body (some would dissolve in the blood and get carried around). Assuming your RBCs were replaced with something that was green instead of red, you'd blush green. Bruises would be black and green. Keep in mind that an unoxygenated RBC is actually blue, so for part of your body (any arteries), you already have non-red cells floating around, even though we still call them Red Blood Cells.
