What are the different types of thermal imaging?

Curious about types of imaging equipment, radiology?

  • I'm curious about which imaging equipment does not use some form of ionizing radiation? a. Fluoroscopy b. Computed tomography c. PET d. MRI e. digital imaging f. nuclear medicine g. sonography

  • Answer:

Um, I think that only MRI and sonography do not use ionizing radiation. MRI is basically a giant magnet which creates magnetic fields which move, which in turn causes the H atoms in the water in the body to polarize one way or another. So it is only unsafe if you have a metal that would be attracted to a magnet (titanium is not magnetic, stainless steel is). Sonography uses sound waves to image.. imagine the way bats or dolphins use sound to visualize things. I'm not really sure what is meant by digital imaging. If it is an image I made with my handheld camera, no ionizing radiation was used. On the other hand, it could be a digital image created from a CT, which was created using ionizing radiation!
