What is EQ?

Pharmacy/Drug related question: What does EQ next to a drug name mean?

  • I've seen prescriptions and formulary lists where certain drugs have EQ- Like Prozac EQ 20mg Base and Seroquel EQ 300mg Base-what does the EQ signify?

  • Answer:

Just another thing to be sure about. Some meds in large dosages have EQ in them for equinine... So if you see Motrin EQ 4,000 mg, it is probably for the horse, not generic brand... ..
