The side effects of calcium urate and calcium phosphate when orally taken...?

  • there is a chinese herb made out of calcium urate and calcium phosphate. it is prescribed to kidney patients as a salt substitute, as it has a salty taste. can you tell me if using this on a regular basis, will it cause any side-effects or harm to the body?

  • Answer:

i don't know anything about this particular herb, but pretty much everything should be used in moderation. the one thing that comes to mind for this combination is that excess Ca urate/phosphate has the potential to cause kidney stones.
