Have any of you earned your nursing degree online?

Nursing career; anesthesia, this may be a dumb question?

  • Does anyone know if an earned MSN would shorten the time required to become a CRNA? Let me explain. A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist program results in a masters degree; where a nurse with a BSN earns an MSN be completing the CRNA program. This is roughly 27 months. Would a nurse with BSN whom decides to earn an non-specialty specific, but nursing specific MSN be able become a CRNA without completing the CRNA program from beginning to end? This may be confusing, but I basically want to know if I earn an MSN can I just take select classes and be able to practice as a CRNA?

  • Answer:

No you have to take the CRNA program to be certified and have someone actually hire you. I would not want an anesthetist that had not had the required training.

Absolutely not. The little bit of training that CRNAs get is just enough to keep them from killing people. God forbid you get less.

Pangolin

No you have to take the classes they give you.
