Are most nurses really all that good at science?

Why do nurses need science in their job ?

  • please reply soon?? need it for my course work!!!

  • Answer:

well biology is the study of living organisms and of the body for example i learn things like the heart, excretion, the skeleton, mucsles and things like that so thats why you need science and Nursing school is heavily science based with microbiology, Biochem, anatomy and physiology. It's important to know the anatomy and how everything in the body works because when assessing patients you test and look at all body parts from the inside out and you need to know what is abnormal. As far as the biochem you need to know how drugs work in the body, as far as what the chemicals are in the drugs and how they are carried through the body etc. Microbiology focuses on more of how bacteria grow, viruses, etc. Science is the BIGGEST thing in nursing and I use it EVERY single day. When consulting with doctors you need to know your sciences that I mentioned earlier, and just everything with the body, how it functions, hormones, different systems in the body, medications. If you are good at science and you are a compassionate person, nursing would be a GREAT thing to get into. hope this helps! :D
