What is Antioxidant and what does it do?

Total Antioxidant unit?

Ive done a DPPH antioxidant test. But i cant seem to figure out the unit? the formula used is Total antioxidant activity= A(standard)/ (A(sample)-A(standard) A(standard)= DPPH solution in the presence of TROLOX A(sample)= DPPH solution in the presence of TROLOX. so from this formula what is the unit? I need the answer by today so will Vote in Best answer latest by tonight. Thank you for your help.

The method provided is based on the disappearance of DPPH radical in the presence of antioxidant. DPPH radical have distint absorption at 517 nm. By measuring the decrease of the absorbance by DPPH at 517 nm in the presence of antioxidant can provide the information of anti-oxidant capacity. There is no unit of your formula because the method and the formula is according to absorbance unit and no unit is needed for absorbance.
