I'm going to my first eye doctor. How do I go about saying I want to order contacts from a outside source?

Not every eye doctor supplies contacts. They actually have to order them in most cases anyway. So if they ask you if you want to order the contacts that day, just say that you will probably do it another time. If they are going to get upset because you want to save money, they need to re-evaluate their prices.

Go in for your exam, and once you are done, ask them for a copy of your lens prescription, which you are entitled to.... Tell them you are buying from an outside source and unless they are willing to match or beat the price then you will not buy from them...I do that all the time... They cannot refuse to give you your prescription... by the way I'm not sure where you are in this country, but if you have a Costco by you they are cheaper there!!!!

They'll give you a sample pair to wear out of the office that day. Then when they ask you how many boxes you want to buy, tell them you'd like to wear the ones you just got for a couple of days to be sure they're going to work for you. Then you can contact whoever, and they will call your eye doctor to get your exact prescription. That way, they have to deal with the office, not you. That's how I do it, because I'm a big chicken, too.
