  I just finished a graduate degree and that was the hardest thing I wrote -- my personal statement. It's sort of an ambiguous thing. Most of us are trained to not "toot our own horn," but in a personal statement, you have to do this. You have to focus on your goals, skills and beliefs. Here are a few places to get help: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/pw/p_perstate.html These guys give an overview of what to think about, include and answer. It's from Purdue, so you won't get much better writing advice. Also, consider www.wordtechs.com. These guys will edit anything and usually for very little money (my friend spent $30 and got a great resume), plus they are personable and fast. Good luck with your new endeavors!
