    Normal saline is isotonic with blood plasma. Hence it does not harm the blood cells.Therefore it is used as IV fluids by doctors. Insted of water it is better to use 0.9% normal saline as ear or nasal drops, it does not irritate such sensitive parts. Never use distilled or pure water to clean ear or nose, it may be harmful. Note:- Normal saline tastes like tears. To prepare normal saline solution, take 0.9 gm of sodium chloride (common salt) dissolve it in 100 ml of water.
