What do you think about changing politicians?

Do you feel politicians are there to represent YOUR views or to do what THEY think is best?

  • I personally take the view that politicians are elected to represent the views of the people that voted for them. So I think that when the majority of a population hold one opinion, the politicians should fight for this opinion, even if they personally disagree. Some people on the other hand feel that the purpose of politicians is to do what they think is best, and we elect them for this purpose because we're not qualified to make the big and important decisions ourselves. Which way do you look at it and why?

    I feel that most politicians have forgotten that they were elected by the people, for the people. They get too wrapped up in big corporations who make big campaign contributions and forget that they were elected to represent their constituents not big business. If they would provide a venue so that we could contribute our opinions and concerns and pay attention to what we have to say they could better represent the public view. It's time that we the people take back our government. DON'T RE-ELECT ANYONE. It's time for a new generation of our American government. It's time for term limits. Politicians are supposed to be serving the public not making a career in Washington. If there are term limits on the president, why are there no term limits on senators, congressmen and representatives as well. NO RE-ELECTIONS!!!!

I'll take option number three- They're fooling us into agreeing with them. If people really voiced their opinions the Republican Party would not exist.

Politicians, ah politicians. Worse than journalists and we know what scum they can be.

They are there to do what they think is best. That is why we are a representative Republic and not a Democracy. People are not educated enough to make practical decisions (otherwise there would be no Democrats left). Lets face it all you knucklehead lib's couldn't plan your way out of a paper bag. The moment Brittany Spears or Oprah tell you to think something you do. The KoolAid drinkers are plentiful on this site and after what I have seen up here, if I ever had any thoughts about moving to a pure Democracy, they are completely gone now.

Well, considering that Bush just vetoed democratically passed legislation concerning stem cell research, simply because it conflicts with his personal views, I would say that some very important politicians only care about their own interests.

They are hired by us to run the country, and to do the will of the majority of the people, not what they want to do. Majority is supposed to rule. Not the government bureaucrats. For instance on the immigration issue they are going against the majority of the people, and doing what they want.

All the politicians are full of bullshit. It doesn't matter if they are Dem. or Rep. They really don't care what the regular person wants or has to say, they only listen to those giving them the big money. I say get rid of the 2 party system. People should vote on issues, not party lines.
