Why does the mainstream media, and TV stations ignore conspiracy documentaries...?
-
..Forget the subjects they cover...or if you believe in 'conspiracy theories' the online conspiracy theory movie zeitgeist is watched for free over 2 million times per month...So, why isn't this show on TV? For financial gain (not for education) to one of the stations that choose to show it? Why dont one of the big networks buy the rights to show it? Once again i'll say, im not asking if u believe what zeitgeist says is true...Im just saying, isn't it weird that a movie this popular isnt shown or even talked about in the mainstream?

Answer:
My local public access channel plays such fare and runs disclaimers before it, so all channels could do the same, but they fear political pressure. One particularly well documented film is called Conspiracy of Silence. Although made by Yorkshire TV for Discovery channel, it can only be found online because powerful people in Washington had it pulled off the air. Please see link below.

They'd rather keep us dumb by filling our heads with information and entertainment that doesn't really do us any good. People would become angry learning the truth, and it would put a huge dent in many large companies profits.

Because if more people believed in crap like this there would be a worldwide tinfoil hat shortage.

Believe it or not, network TV still has something that seems to approach "standards."...Somewhere, deep down, they still know that what they choose to broadcast is reflective of who they are...which is truly sad if you watch a few hours of daytime TV on any network. That said, please keep in mind who "owns" the internet. Every site, from the New York Times to porn sites to the wackiest conspiracy sites have to be housed somewhere...they are dependent on someone else's network to be seen. So no matter the content...as long as that content is moving, the people who own the infrastructure are making money. So how's this for a conspiracy theory? The guys who ultimately own the TV and Cable Networks also own a good chunk of the infrastructure that brings you the internet (in fact, they also own most of the major newspapers and radio stations as well). Its sort of like this...If you wanted to be the most powerful guy in a City, would you want to be the guy in charge of Zoning or the guy who collects all the Taxes?

Conspiracies are very interesting but usually exist only in the mind - they fill a hole for the bored looking for some way to occupy their minds.

Well, Zeitgeist is a conspiracy is RIDDLED with misconceptions and wrong information. I'm not claiming that everything is wrong or misleading - just a lot is. A TV station and main stream media cannot afford to play such a video that lacks credability. At any rate, I have seen conspiracy theory documents played on Fox. Fox did a HUGE special on "Did we land on the Moon?" This video gave a lot of weight to that conspiracy theory. I think fox did show some "Loose Change" too. But Zeitgeist is not a great documentary. Also, I know the 2nd part IS part of Loose Change. I'm positive the first and third are also from other works. And the ending is from a movie. There might also be copy right issues too.

Happy to see you! And you have a badge! :D You know, I do not even watch regular programming anymore, none of it. I have even stopped watching world news, let alone locally. Once in a while, I will watch the History channel, Science, Discovery or National Geographic. I read a lot, but - Yahoo consumes most of my time. I love interacting with others here and I have made so many good friends. I have shared and learned more here in one year, than I have in twenty! :D

mainstream media is there to keep the masses dumb. I mean, a channel that shows wall-mart commercials will not show a documentary where it says that wall-mart is lead by money-grabbing bastards. (just an example)
