The Gun Issue the gun issue is blazed into prominence with the port arthur massacre in Tasmania in 1996.The federal govenment of australia acted quickly and decisively to make a restriction for firearms ownership in australia.A special meeting of police ministers across the country was called and quickly resolved that a series of firearms control measures should be implemented. The resolutions were supported by the Coalition for gun control.However,there're a lot of sporting shooters in australia and they opposed these resolutions.The objective of the federal government was to achieve uniform firearms laws in australia,and the government quickly discovered that there was a great deal of confusion among australians about how the new laws and prepared an education program to explain the situation.Part of the program is a WWW presentation of detailed information on the new laws,including compensation for surrendered weapons. though there are still a lot of people in australia dont agree with this resolutions,but i believe that they'll understand why the govenment wants to do this.Although the gun issue has now already faded from prominece by media,it is still highly political as many observers predict a voter backlash at the next federal election.and i would also like to mention that port arthur is a wonderful holiday destination and will remain one of the highlights of our cultural heritage long after the gun issue is forgotten will that be ok~?
