What is the modern social contract .... do we have one?
-
Who or what is the State ? What role was the State to play in our society and lives ? Have they done that ? They were going to protect us the people in exchange for our labour and our loyalty . Fluoride is a poison in toothpaste which is known to lower IQ's and it has been added to our water for decades . It is the prime ingredient in Prozac and anti depressant prescribed to 10's of thousands . The Nazis used to to dumb down and make prisoners easier to handle and more docile Hormones in the milk aspertaime in the soda aluminum in the antiperspirant and mercury in the fish Has the State lived up to it's end of the social contract and protected us ? The Nobles ruled over us ..... the owners of land were the owners of people and the poor have always outnumbered to rich by staggering ratios The untitled people who were not born into Nobility fought for the right to elect representives of the people who would be allowed to have a voice to the State The House of Commons and all other democratic houses holding elected peoples were there to be a voice of the people to the State or the owners of the land the labour and the nation State A political class has emerged from those old and hard fought for demands Has that political class protected us or represented our views and concernes to the corperations of today who own the labour and the nation State ? Have those groups merged --- or fullfilled their portion of the social contract which gave birth to their existence ? The people are the masses --- the workers the producers and often the foot soldiers . A lot of them own houses with a patch of land -- but it is their labours and their skills which makes the will of the elites possible Without the masses the leaders and owners could do nothing . The more skilled and industrious the peoples the more the elites are able to do -------- Have the people fulfilled their portion of the contract ? Have they been productive and selective in what projects of the elites they will lend their support to ---- Or do they feel they must obey the will of the State and give their labour to any and all of their desires in order to maintain their life style eat well and enjoy good housing ?

Trout... It seems these days, at least here, the social contract has been null & void and all bets are off. The 'masses' have always fulfilled their part. How else could our nation have run all these so many decades? And the 'leaders' that were thrown our way to give us the illusion of freedom, or to be 'go between' for the rich elite, now want to be players and get some of that action. They play the game and the need to conceal what they are doing seems to be less and less necessary, as they can just take what they want through financial manipulation. And if worse comes to worse, through military might. I hope it doesn't get that bad, but the worker bees are agitated and are tired of playing the game. They are tired of working all day only to make sure the queen bee is taken care of. Maybe they want a little of that honey for themselves. Our 'protectors' don't want that, so they've got to do something right? Drug us up, numb our minds, and scare us into submission. We'll see how it plays out.

Seems there's no social contract. Only individual contracts. Designed to curtail the aggregate power of numbers in people and to make us be at each other's throats.

Fluoride is not even necessary to keep teeth healthy. It's a bunch of horseshit. My family never used anything fluoridated and our teeth are great and shiny white. I use xylitol toothpaste. :)

For the barbarians were not only at our gates but within our skins. We were our own wooden horses, each one of us full of our own doom. ....these fanatics or those, or crazies or yours; but the explosions burst out of our very own bodies. We were both the bombers and the bombs. The explosions were our own evil - no need to look for foriegn explanations, though there was and is evil beyond our frontiers as well as within. We have chopped away our own legs, we engineered our own fall. And now we can only weep, at the last, for what we were too enfeebled, too corrupt, too little, too contemptable to defend.

The social contract is the same as it's always been. The operation of law depends upon the citizenry respecting it. It depends upon people keeping their word, no matter what. The contract is fragile, and when people stop disrespecting the process, it's in danger. If it fails, we all fail. Right now there a lot of whiners. This didn't go my way. That wasn't what I wanted. *******. If you keep your word only when you get exactly what you want, you have no integrity, no courage, and no honor. Flouride. Jeezus, are we back in 50's? How about Iraq? Warrantless wiretapping? Waterboarding? Jack Abramhoff? Tom Delay? If you had a pair of cojones, you didn't give up on the USA the last 8 years. Reagan initiated the hatred of poor, and the disrespect of the legal system. But this country and our Constitution is bigger than somebody like that. You enjoy the freedoms of this country. Without them you could not post your sophmoric thoughts. You have benefited from the largesse of others who have labored and the policies of this country, while retaining your individual liberty (your peculiar toothpaste). I am ashamed of so many Americans who have so little courage to work within our system to bring about the changes they want. *******. Waaaaaaaaaa. I want it and I want it now, and it I don't get it f**k America. Grow up. Grow a pair. Work for what you want. If the people support you, you'll get it. Obama got elected. How improbable is that? In a country that passed its last civil rights legislation in 1964. If you want to form a nation of whiners, buy an island.
