Why were Republicans for health care reform during the election but now are 100% against it?
-
During the election, republicans were in strong support for Health Care. I'll talk about the leading GOP candidate for 2012 Sarah Palin. She was in strong for health care insurance for people without it and who could not afford to have it. That was a huge part of her campaign. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iv-phmrr0sQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heAibiOJ5NE She preached about people who didn't qualify for health insurance on their jobs, college students, self employed people, and people who had been laid off in this bad economy, basically the same thing President Obama is currently saying. Now she says things should be left alone, there's no need for health care reform. This leads me to believe that the republican party has just become the party of No, and ANYTHING that President is for, they will be against and find reasons why its bad for America. Its like their sole mission right now is to make sure America does not get any better for 2012 and we all have to suffer. But back to my original question, what happened to the people that didn't qualify for health insurance and the self employed, college students, and ect. that she preached about last year? What made her do a complete 180 in her thinking

Answer:
Republicans have short memories and are easily lied to and led like sheep.

They were for the stimulus when it was originally formed under the Bush administration, too. But somehow once it moved along and became passed under Obama's, it suddenly became a collapse into anarchic socialism.

Just because we want reform doesn't mean we think THIS kind of reform is right. It seems like the Democrat's plans are "fixing" all the parts that aren't broken and leaving the broken parts the way they are. For instance, we need some kind of tort reform.

your second you tube link basically has her talking about reducing spending and creating jobs with health care a distant 3rd Maybe a 1 trillion dollar public option was not what she meant and thats why we are against it now, not some sort of bait and switch

Republicans and Conservatives are not against health care reform. We just don't want government run health care.
Iron_Plague
they are not, it is not a health care bill but an insurance and tax bill, the issue of health care has yet to be addressed!

Republicans are not in power, so they can't put their health care reform proposals to a vote. See the Wyden-Bennett Act as a great example. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Healthy_Americans_Act http://wyden.senate.gov/issues/Legislation/Healthy_Americans_Act.cfm The Democrats will not allow this to be put to a vote. Why is that?

Simple answer? It's not their type of "reform".

There is a difference between reform and completely destroying the system! obama is doing nothing to make it affordable, he's trying to take it over...

Republicans are still for health care reform. Conservatives are for health care reform. We want meaningful health care reform. Liberals want socialized medicine. They want the government to takeover health insurance and health care industries. It is a power grab, not reform. None of the bills before Congress say one thing about improving health delivery services. Meaningful reform should necessarily include tort reform, eliminating unfunded mandates eliminating burdensome regulations on health insurers and health care providers, allowing all 1300 health insurance companies to compete in a truly open market. People who do not have health insurance say they cannot afford it. So, no matter the plan, someone will say they cannot afford to buy insurance then won't buy it. Socialized medicine is a bad idea. It won't work. Mrs. Palin can think and do as she likes. That is the beauty of being an American.
