Why are people who are against public health care for the poor the same ones against mininum wage increases?

If you were to canvass these same people and ask them about Medicare, most would be against that, too, and would favor abolishing it....as well as Social Security. Go figure...

Number 1: people who earn minimum wage are eligible for MEDICAID. Number 2 - the people who really hurt in this country are middle income earners - they cannot afford many things and are not eligible for any help generally speaking. Number 3 - why should I have to pay for bottom feeders who chose not to do anything with their lives.

Minimum wage increases hurt the poor and low skilled workers the most. You think they help when if fact they hurt workers. LOL People cant afford college because the government subsidizes loans and this allows the colleges to push up tuition. The bottom line is the government you want to level the playing field is the one that is responsible for the "problems" you are seeing. The only solution they give us is more government. .

Social Darwinism. It is a core aspect to the Republican Party. It's part of the 'trickle-down' approach to making the economy strong and "raising all boats" - all nonsense. They believe that people should suffer the consequences of their own condition or circumstances and the government should get out of the way. They value people of high wealth as being smarter and more deserving, and would allow that wealth to give them a greater power in society for the purpose of setting wages. Which would surely be a drive to the bottom and a resurrection of serfdom.

I like how a lot of the people against it are the ones that will also benefit from it the most.

Your question shows that you are ignorant of the relationship between cause and effect. When minimum wage is increased poor people loose jobs, it is a fact.

When ever they raise the minimum wage it does not help the majority of people. If you give everyone at mcdonalds a raise the owners need to make more money to pay them. They in return raise the price on the food they sell to make up for it. It isnt just them its the people they get the food from. You basically drive the price of all products up. In short time the raise dont count for much and to often means less. The middle income seldom get a raise just becuase the low earners got one. That means with the increased cost of products you actually reduced the income that they originally had. Basically all that happens is some politician looks like he hooked up the little guy when he did not. He also burned the middle guy. Who rightfully feels he is paying for the little guy. Most people start at some place on the bottom of economic food chain. Many like myself have worked very hard and sacrificed to get to the place I am today. It can be done and is done every day. Health care is outragous and needs reform. Its just that having the government provide health care will take the money straight out of the pockets of the ones it is supposed to help. The middle class simply disappears. You will see haves and have nots like you never seen before. The idea you can purchase non government insurance becomes none existant becuase if the government fixes a price real world capitalism can not compete. The government is bankrupting every thing they control. I wont see ssi. Its no longer even a question. They can not run the post office It is broke. It isnt hard to find evidence of how government health care isnt working in all the places that have it. The quality of care is second to none. The advancements in medicine come from us becuase we dont have socialised medicen. people come here for care cuase they cant get it in their country. In a perfect world we all would have free health care and live for ever. Its not a perfect world. The current system needs fixing not thrown out.
