Who won on the war of the 6th of October 1973, Yom Kippur?? The Egyptian-Syrian armies, or the Israeli???

Look at a current map of the area. The fact that there's still a space marked "Israel" indicates that Israel didn't lose, which means they won.

the Israelis..... they ended up getting Jerusalem back and other territory.considering the odds....the victory was miraculous... the proof is in current events....the arabs want back what the Israelis won back in 1973

Israel won the tactical, stragetical war. Egypt won the political war securing the Sinai and other territories and concessions from Israel

The modern state of Israel has won every war since it was created. Israel kept the Golan Heights in the north east portion of Palestine when it took them away from Syria. Israel also took the Sinai Peninsula away from Egypt, but returned it later. You could try Googling or an Internet search and find out the history in more detail. The Arabs main war goal was, and remains, the total destruction of Israel and the genocide of the Israeli people. The Israeli war aim is, and always has been, survival. Since Israel still exists, you can quickly figure out that they won. If they had not won the Arabs would have killed them all, and driven them into the sea. Most of the Army was at home, and the reserves had to scramble and mobilize. The Egyptians were winning in the Siani because they had new Soviet anti-tank rockets to stop the Israeli tanks, and new Soviet Surface to Air rockets to stop the Israeli air force. The Israelis were hard pressed to hold the Golan. They were running out of weapons. President Nixon authorized the US to send Israel emergency aid, and flew in weapons from the US troops in Germany. The Israelis managed to lure the Egyptian Armies out into the Siani, beyond the range of their Surface to Air Rockets, then the Israeli Air Force destroyed the Egyptian tanks, and the Israeli tanks drove in and destroyed the Egyptian surface to air rockets. The Israeli armies actually crossed the Suez canal into Africa. Fortunately for Egypt the Israelis couldn't spare to many troops to invade Egypt. They had to take care of Syria, so they moved most of their troops north and destroyed the Syrain Armies. There was nothing left to stop the Israelis from taking Damascus. The Syrians were in a panic, peeing themselves with fear. They called the Russians... The Russians called the Americans and explained that the Russians couldn't let Syria and Egypt fall to Israel, that if the Israelis didn't stop the Russians would have to send in Russian troops to save Syria. The Americans called the Israelis and told them that they had to stop, they couldn't take Damascus or Cairo because that would bring the Russians in and WW3 would start. The Israelis weren't happy about it, but they stopped. President Sadat of Egypt saw all this, and seven years later he met with President Jimmy Carter and the Prime Minister Began of Israel, and signed a peace treaty with Israel. The Israelis promised peace and they gave the Siani back to Egypt...the rest of the Arab world hated Sadat and he was assassinated a few years later by some Arab radicals because he made peace.

Syria lost a lot of territory in that war.

Syria lost, and it was a stalemate between Egypt and Israel. Egypt's main mission and goal in this was was to regain the Sinai and any lost territory it lost during the 1967 six day war. It was NOT the destruction of Israel and Genocide of Jews..the jack *** that says this is completely making **** up, distorting truth, etc. Egypt wanted to regain the Sinai, which at the end it did. Israel I guess tried to keep Sinai and the Golan..which they did until they had to give back the Sinai. So its a win for them as well. Syria wanted the Golan and they made some big military mistakes that ruined their chances...which weren't that bad, but they have had bad leadership in their military. Also...they could've destroyed the Egyptian 3rd field Army..did they? Thats like looking at every other previous wars of Europe or the world wars, and saying..OH! this side could've completely done this or done that! For example Egypt had already had a plan set in for breaking through to save their Army..but they never had to use it because they worked politically. keep your comments about FACTS and exactly what HAPPENED..not what DIDN'T, and COULD'VE. I think its dumb for one side really to claim total victory in the Yom Kippur War.

Egypt won in their own way by ragaining sinai. Egypt got the sinai back . Also remember israel controls america and thats a fact
