Answer:
Yes, there are groups that specialize in military type training. They almost always cost alot of money. Carefully, make sure that the person who is training you is former military, special forces. They are out there.

while there are civilian companies that specialize in this type of training, and many times they are run by ex military, they can never be accused of being remotely accurate and identical to the training one receives in the military. For one thing.. parts of the training is Classified, and for another.. you are paying money so you expect to pass. The military has no qualms about failing someone if they don't cut the mustard.

You don't have to pay for a private military type course to get the training and not go to war. Besides, why pay when you can attend the course and get paid by the military? Yes-we get sent to Black Water, Thunder Ranch, Front Site, Gun Sight, Gryphon Group, Pat Rogers, etc., and get paid!!! But, I'm not exactly sure what your question is-I'll say you can't go to advanced weapons and tactics (AWT), small unit tactics (SUT), SCUBA etc., without going through basic and build up training. You can't go to any type of freefall or jump master school without going through basic jump and having so many jumps first-you know this, right? You can enlist US Army 18X (undesignated till completing SFAS "selection") and your chances of going to war within two years are actually pretty limited. I re-enlisted shortly after 9/11 and I've been to 16 months of DLI Arabic, jump school, 18 weeks of MI schooling, supply and armorer school, and other training and I've even signed a waiver to deploy with any one any where and have yet to deploy. Additionally, I'm in a program (not SF or ODA) and scheduled to attend several courses previously only offered to SF and ODA teams and during this time, if I get asked to join a deployment, it will be on a volunatry basis. So, the answer is yes. It's possible. But, I'm in on this contract till 2008, and desire to go downrange again, perhaps late 2007, and will go if called up. However, if you enlist for such training, you can expect they'll want to send you over, and the US military is projected to be actively involved with over 100k troops in Iraq alone till no later than 2008 (this is no secret or "opsec" by the way). You can't enlist for such training (if it's guaranteed you still have to pass it) and then just get out-you'll have to fulfill the contractual obligations, and for that training it's usually more than the average 4 year stint-they try to get you to sign 6 year stints. The US Army is currently experiencing a large attrition rate among contracted 18X soldiers. Due to this fact and maturity issues, it's always preferred that one have several years of experience before trying out for SF and SEAL types. Cheers.
