What is it like to be a radiologist?

What is being a radiologist for the Airforce like? thinking of applying.?

  • I wanted to go to http://www.nymahe.org/bartone_radiological.php but on the airforce website it says: "Minimum Education Requirement: M.D. or D.O. degree and completed an ACGME- or AOA-accredited program of postgraduate specialty training." I do not understand the accreditation. I'm confuse because I thik the school has different accreditation. I already have a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. I do not know if that helps having an unrelated bachelor's degree. But what is life like with the airforce? How good will the pay and benefits be? Should I just find work in a reg. hospital? What will the difference be? What is the work schedule like? This may sound silly, but I am the only person to take care of my dog. I heard that the airforce can provide housing, I do not know if that applies to radiologist. If it does, will they allow my dog there? I can find someone for 3months but afterwards I want the dog there all the time. During training... are their breaks to go home? personal experience is appreciated.

  • Answer:

You misunderstand, A Radiologist is the Doctor who reads all X-rays, I think your talking about a radiology tech as the website refers to. You shouldn't have any problem training over to X-ray tech. Yes you can bring your dog, After tech school You can probably have the dog for phase 3/OJT, What will you do if you have to deploy downrange? You should be prepared to get a EU passport for your Dog.
