Working as a store associate?

Anyone working at a Commissary Store in a USA Base in Europe?

  • Hi there, I'd like to apply for a job at a Commissary Store in Italy, since there are two vacant positions as a store clerk and as a store checker. I am Italian and I have a good knowledge of the English language (upper intermediate level). Is this enough to work at a Commissary store? What will I be required to do as a store clerk? Will I have the opportunity to speak English while working there or will I only have to stack shelves? Does anybody know? I'd like to get the chance to speak some English at work! Thanks a lot!

  • Answer:

I was stationed in Germany for 6 1/2 years, and we had several German employees working in our commissary on post. They all spoke English with the customers while they were working. From reading your question, I'd say your English will be no problem. Good luck with your application.

Other answers

there are only a select number of jobs available to locals in foreign countries, the rest are available to spouses, family members or service members themselves, normally stocking shelves/counters is vendor and those jobs are normally americans. you only need to be willing to learn english, as you will have the opportunity to speak it, when you give totals, and say hello etc.
