I'm in Marines DEP, but want to get out and join Navy to become a combat medic for marines , help!?

  • I'm in Marines DEP, but want to get out and join Navy to become a combat medic for marines , I've always wanted to be a medic, but my dumbass thought Marines would have medic position but in fact I just found out it's NAVY who have Combat Medics (Corps) join the marines, in the infantry, I want to know how to get out of the marines DEP, and join NAVY, yes I know I may get discharged or whatever, but I've always dreamed of becoming a Combat Medic, (weird? I know right!) Any tips on best way to get out of Marines DEP ?

    If your just in the DEP, just go talk to a Navy recruiter. They can advise you and handle the process for you. It's your life, do what you want too do.

Go to your Marine recruiter and ask for a discharge. Also go to a Navy recruiter to talk about enlisting. The Marine recruiter may bluster some about how you're "committed" but really it's not a big deal...you're still in DEP.

DEP doesnt mean anything other than they saved you a spot in bootcamp which someone else will gladly fill. I have asked my recruiter several times and its always said I can drop it whenever I want. You can back out up to the day you leave for boot camp

So....did you EVER bring up your desire to be a Medic/Corpsman to the Marine Recruiter when you enlisted? If so...you mean to tell me that he led you along, knowing full well it wasn't possible, and let you enlist? So what does that tell you?
