What exactly does an IT Specialist do?

What is an operations specialist in the navy reserve?

  • I came from MEPS yesterday and could not get the job I wanted so I chose operations specialist. I looked on google and found some info. but could not find info. for what navy reserve operation specialist do. Also where is A school and what are some things they learn during a school? I know this question should not matter but what do they wear on the job, is it the jumpsuit or just the navy shirt and pants?

  • Answer:

Navy reservists in general do nothing unless they get deployed. For the most part they come here to base for drill weekend and mess everything up and then the FTS squadron has to clean up the mess. An OS will most likely wear the blue digis or even a service uniform to work. Here is what an active duty OS does: plot a ship's position, heading, and speed; operate common marine electronic navigation instruments including radar systems; provide target plotting data to the combat information center based on information received from target tracking devices. You won't be doing any of that as a reservist unless you volunteer for a deployment.
