Can one go to college/take college classes while being in active duty in the Army right now?

Answer:
YES! I did...you can attend college at nights and on weekens. Of course, if you are deployed attending college becomes a little more difficult, but some FOBs are offering certain classes to the soldiers. I obtained a AA degree by attening night and weekend colllege classes.

even if you do end up getting deployed you might be able to do online courses depending on where you are stationed and what you have to do. other than that you have to find time on your own cause you know your job comes first

Yes sir, I took a course. I think there are even courses you can take while you are deployed, depending on your job. Check out your education center on base. The best part is, while you are on active duty, you don't pay for anything. I think you just have to keep your grade above as a C or above.

Depends on your MOS and where you get stationed downrange. But you definitely can take classes while int he military. Ex. for MOSs. In Garrison: Army Finance cannot take classes because they work up to 9-10 in the night. While the Infantry gets off at 2 or 3 in the afternoon and have plenty of time tot ake classes. In Iraq: Infantry soldiers have duty 24/7 pretty much and dont have time for school. But the Army finance can just be in the office unless on a pay mission do they're college. Da DoN!

hells yeah! and its FREE! your best bet is to take online classes, especially ones that are self paced. There are several people in my online classes that are deployed right now. In most cases, if a military reason causes you to not be able to complete the course, you can drop it without penalty. talk to your education counselor or go to earmyu.com and goarmyed.com

if you are going to be deployed it will be hard but schools usually work with you. a lot of time the army will help you out with the costs of the tuition depending on what classes you want to take and your college credits.

When deployeed i don't think so. But you can take classes at your duty station.

Heck if they're going to let whats his name (cant remember it) sing on American Idol last year and go on tour with them while he was on active duty, I don't see why they wouldn't work with you on school
