How would I become a pathologist?

How to become a Nuerologist or Pathologist in the U.S Army? ?

• I'm so confused i really want to be a nuerologist in the army though I don't no the requirements or the proccess. I am a sohpomore at Roald Amundsen highschool in Chicago IL. I really do care about my future and want to learn more about this. P.s I really am interested in health sciences also if you can name how long will this proccess be and also the benefits .

  ok, so you need to take ACT or SAT and apply to college. (i dont think that military has programs where they pay for college on medical track, so i think you will have to pay yourself or get scholarships or get loans). Anyway so this is what I did: I got into college and picked a biologically related major (biology would be your best bet). In order to get into medical school, you need to take General Biology 1 and Two with Laboratories 1 and 2; General chemistry 1 and 2 with laboratories 1 and 2, General (calculus based) or college (algebra and trig based) Physics 1 and 2 with labs 1 and 2, and organic chemistry 1 and 2 with labs 1 and 2. Some medical schools also require you to take calculus and some english, but english is usually satisfied by your major requirements. When you will be attending college, you need to get as many A's as possible and no withdrawals on your transcript. I had one W (withdrawal) on my transcript and even then the admission committee to med school asked me about it, so do not get any W's if you can. Maintain your GPA as high as possible. You will also need to find a pre-medical adviser at your college to help you out as well. I would also recommend taking genetics, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, and any other biology classes. After you have completed your pre-requisites to medical school you need to take the mcat test. This is a very difficult test and you will need to prepare for it for at least couple of months. I do not recommend kaplan as a prep course. After you have taken the mcat and sent out your medical school applications, you will need to contact army health professions recruiter and tell them that you are interested in HPSP program which is a scholarship program through the military for medical students. If you are accepted to this program, they will pay for your medical school and give you an additional 2 thousand bucks per month during med school. Also, during your college years, you should be doing volunteer work in a hospital, any pre-medical summer programs that give you hands on patient experience or research. Beef up the extra curriculars, med schools love that. Now this was just a brief overview, there are a ton more details, but once you enter college and meet other pre-medical people, you will find out more about this. Just a warning though, pre medical education is not very easy. A lot of people drop out and not make it to medical school, so you have to be on top of your game. Look up a website called Student Doctor Network and check out their Forums for high school students and college pre-meds. It will be helpful once you sort through some garbage posts.
