How to force a program to stay open?

Question about the air force reserve?

• i want to stay in the health care field i am working towards getting into the RN program at my local college but i need to know if the air force reserve has a program for me like LVN RN OR Radiology.....Will me my brother and my cousin be together or will we be split up at bmt ? they dont want anything to do with the medical field.....will i be able to keep my current job if i go to bmt?

  WOW! So many questions! I will try to answer them, but forgive me if I miss something. First of all, Congratulations on joining the Air Force Reserve! Let’s start at the last question and work our way back. Yes you will absolutely be able to keep your current job when you got to BMT and Tech School. There is a federal law that protects you. It says that you can come back to your job as long as you are not gone for more than 5 years. The law has some specifics so you need to read it. You can go to http://www.dol.gov/elaws/userra.htm to read more. That is the Dept of Labor web site. Next as long as the recruiter for you three blocked you the same basic training dates then there is a really good possibility that you will be together during BMT. There is always a chance that something could go awry so I can't guarantee you anything, but more than likely you will be together for BMT. Tech School is another story. If you are all not in the same career field then you will all be in different tech schools after BMT. They could be on the same base or they could be states apart. The Air Force Reserve has a program called the LEAP program to assist with nursing degrees. I don't have the information with me to give you more detail, but you need to ask your medical unit about it. If they don't have the information when you get back from BMT and TTS then go back to your recruiter and ask them for the information. . Good Luck!
