How to obtain a basic EMT certification?

Does the army provide a way for people who are EMT's to keep up their certification if their MOS is not 91W.

  • I am currently a certified by the national registry of EMT's as a EMT basic in order to keep up with the certification you need to meet certain qualifications such as training hours and CPR re-certification. I know that being EMT qualified is worth promotion points but was wondering what the army can do to help me stay qualified.

  • Answer:

Take a Combat Life savers Course ( CLS ) and turn it into your employer or whoever you do EMS with. They can list it as training hours.

well my son was an EMT but he also went in as 91 whiskey. while he was still in training he was sent a letter to renew his EMT all he had to do was pay whatever the amount was. You get CPR training in basics anyway. But just being in the Army doesn't mean you can't take classes. My son even took classes when he was in Iraq. He just did it on line.
