Any chance getting a ROTC scholarship?

Army and/or Navy ROTC Scholarship?

  • I'm a Junior in HS and I'm looking into applying for the ROTC scholarship next year and in serving in the Army or Navy after college. Freshman year, my gpa was a 3.6 & I was in one club. Sophomore year, my gpa was also a 3.6 & I was in two clubs. & This year, Junior year, my gpa for first semester was bad; 2.8 but I'm also in Varsity Tennis & in one club. And for my senior year, I'm looking into getting at least 3.5-3.8 gpa, Varsity tennis & one club. Is there a chance that I could get the scholarship? And what can I do to increase my chances besides bring up my gpa? Will my SAT scores matter for the scholarship? PLEASE HELP.

  • Answer:

You aren't going to like my answer... Membership in a "club" isn't going to help you. We want LEADERS. Are you the club president? Have you tried student government? Your sports involvement is for solo sports. Are you a team player or a soloist? We want TEAM members and TEAM captains. It will help get/keep you in shape, but it won't help on the resume. Your best bet is to REALLY get cracking on the GPA and get some leadership positions in the clubs you have joined. Your SAT scores WILL help.
