Can you recycle old x-rays?

I got xrays done that condrict what my VA doctors has been saying in a big way?

  • I had private doctor do xrays and the VA has long rejected that my bones are damaged in my kness but the xrays show a very different story. The doctor who read them said if it is true the doctor needs to be reported because there is no way those xrays were fine. They said I had PFS, moderate instability in the left leg, sever instability in the right leg, and damaged and detached ligaments. The private doctor showed me numerous bone damage on and around my knee including breaks that "were left untreated for years causing major internal damage." This comes as 5 xrays have been done in that time.

  • Answer:

Once the VA assigns your rating, all you have to do is write back "I disagree" for an appeal. The compensation payments should be back-dated to the time you submitted the paperwork. (or at the time of ETS if you submitted your claim within 1 year) Have you tried getting someone from AMVETS or the VFW to help you with the process?

You need to appeal the VA Decision.... HOWEVER. If the Doctor you paid cash to suggested that the VA doctor be reported, then I would seriously doubt his ethics. PFS (Patello-femoral syndrome) is a cartilage problem. It is not a problem of the bone and can not be seen on xray. Instability also can not be determined by xray. Ligaments can also not be seen on xray. Fractures RARELY cause long term "internal damage" to a joint. Fractures around a joint can however cause arthritis. Fractures left untreated, do not become something else. They are untreated fractures. The VA has a responsibility to grade your service related disability. Not to agree with a civilian physician who's only responsibility is to his pocket book. edit for yggdrasil: I'm sure there is a supratentorial component that you would be better suited to treat. I don't have a trauma practice, and I have an amazing PA that runs my acute clinic.... no beeper for me either!!!
