Whats life like in usaf tech school?
-
The day to day, how long are classes, it one class at a time or multiple courses together like college. What's the lectures like, is there more hands on then lectures? Any downtime in tech school? What are the inspections like compared to BMT inspections? Same question for PT? If you recently graduated from air traffic controller school, cyber security/surety, imagery analyst school, cyber systems operations school, those are the jobs I'm going to get, so if you completed those recently within a couple years that'd be great. What's the transistion like from BMT to tech school. What restrictions are there in each phase, how long is each phase? Did you live with a roommate? How'd that go? Any other tips and advice would be great. Thanks in advance for answering. (I asked this from my phone, please excuse grammar and spelling errors.)

Answer:
Imagery Analysis - Goodfellow AFB - 315 TRS The first week you get there you'll have "Death by Briefings." Which is basically where they'll tell you a lot of information that will help you through out your time there. After that you'll do what we call "casuals." Casuals are basically the same thing as details in Basic. Just cleaning things or random odd jobs around the squadron and base. The schedule actually changes throughout the year based on the seasons. There are two basic schedules. One with PT in the morning and one with PT after school. 0445-0500 - accountability for PT (roll call) 0500-0600 - PT 0600-0700 - Shower/Shave, Change, Eat 0715 - Accountability before marching to class 1100-1200 - Lunch (changes, can be anytime between 1100-1300 depending on your instructor) 1200-1700 - the rest of class 1700 - March back to chow hall or squadron 1700-2200 - Free time 2200 - Curfew 0715 - Accountability before marching to class 1100-1200 - Lunch (changes, can be anytime between 1100-1300 depending on your instructor) 1200-1700 - the rest of class 1700 - March back to chow hall or squadron 1700-2000 - Free time 2000-2100 - PT 2100-2200 - Free Time 2200 - Curfew The lectures are quite boring for the first two or so months then it's hands-on. You get a 10-15 minute break every hour, at least. The rooms are decent, yes you'll have a roommate. The inspections are pretty easy, as long as your room isn't a mess. Phases: In Transition Phase (ITP)- lasts between two weeks and one month. Always in uniform PT or ABU. Curfew on weekends 0000. Advanced Transition Phase (ATP)- No uniform after duty hours. No curfew on weekends. You likely will never leave this phase unless you're at the school longer than expected. You can apply to get Phase Grad at 180 days of ATP Transition Phase Grad (TPG)- No curfew ever. No marching even during duty hours. Opposite gender allowed in dorm. If you have any other questions, I'd be more than willing to answer. Just ask. I'll probably continue to edit this post as I think of more things. EDIT: The studying isn't bad. Rather than quizzes and exams you have PCs (progress checks) and block tests. You need a 75% to pass. You're not allowed to take anything home at all, it's all classified information. There are not multiple subjects, it's just one course. The instructors are not officers, most are enlisted military. There are a few civilian instructors as well.
