Am I eligible for the GI Bill?

Can a Soldier that is eligible for the GI Bill also use REAP?

  • I am a Soldier currently serving in Iraq with the National Guard. Before joining the Guard I served on active duty with the 82nd Airborne Division for four years, paying into the GI Bill. I have not yet used the GI BIll for college. My question is, am I still able to use REAP from this current deployment, and the GI Bill I paid into on active duty, or are the two mutually exclusive even though they are from two seperate branches?

  • Answer:

You can use the REAp AFTER you have exhausted your active duty GI Bill benefits. Talk to your state Education Services Officer (ESO); you can find their name and number and email under virtual armory.
