Answer:
This really depends upon whether you actually paid the bail bond or if you paid a bail bondsman, or bonding company? If you paid your money to a Bonding Company to get him out then no! You paid 10% of the actual bond that the bondsman put up to have him released. The 10% was a fee charged by the Bondsman for the use of his money as a bond. If you paid the total amount of the bond to the court clerk then yes, it is refundable. If this seems confusing let me put it another way. If the court set his bond at, lets say, $5,000.00 and you paid $5,000.00 to the court to het him out then you will get that money back after he is either found guilty of the charges are dropped, as long as he shows up for every court appearance. If the court set his bond at $5,000.00, and you paid a company or a person representing a company $500.00 to get him out, then you are just out $500.00, unless you friend is willing to reimburse you for the $500.00.

Generally, you get it back either way, guilty or not guilty, so long as he shows up for every court hearing.

If you paid a per centage to a bail bondsman...no. If you paid the entire bail amount, you get the money back after the trial regardless of the verdict...as long as he appears at all court dates and does not get charged with failure to appear.

You will anyway as long as he hasn't tried to skip court

yes actually you should get it back when he shows up for court.

The bail is to insure that he shows up in court. As long as he sticks around until the end (and maybe through sentencing if that happens, not sure) then the bail will be returned. But if you paid via a bail bondsman, your deal with them may be that they get the money back, not you, in exchange for them putting up 90% of the amount or so.

If he posted bail directly, with actual money, it is returned to him if he shows up, whether convicted or acquitted. If he paid a bondsman to post the bond, the bondsman charges a fee (usually about 10%) for the guarantee and that fee is not refunded. Essentially, one is paying ten percent for an insurance policy and it is not refunded.

Yes, if I was you I would contact the bail bondsman and ask them. It should be state in the contract given to you when he was bailed.
