Why are intelligent people so often bullied?

Why does gay teens who are bullied get this special attention but not other people who are bullied?

why is being bullied because your gay different than being bullied because you are fat...if being bullied is wrong should people speak out against all bullying instead of adopting the attitude the gay people are more special than anyone else and deserve special treatment...

So you don't believe that classes that are additionally threatened require additional protection? I thought most people realized that gay teen suicide makes up a disproportionately large percentage of teen suicides.
