What will my background check show about my previous employment?

Disturbing the peace...will it show up on my background check for employment?

  • Hi there, I was arrested for drunk in public a year ago, which was brought down to a infraction of disturbing the peace (with completion of my community service) So i did that, but now I just received a job and they are going to conduct a background check. I was wondering if Imma be okay..or should i start looking for another job. What exactly will show up on the report...me spending a night in the drunk tank, the drunk in public, or disturbing the peace...or all of the above. thanks!

  • Answer:

It can. If you really want the job disclose the infraction to them and explain what had happened then explain what about the experience you learned and how it made you better the company will have an appeal process if it shows up and is ground to not hire you.

if you were convicted, and they reported it to the NCIC national data base yes it will show up. But did they, guess you will find out soon.

Yep it can. I had to report a parking ticket when I was applying for a security clearance and it was investigated. What ever you do in life can come back to bite you in the butt later on.

go on line into the county clerks office and check out public records. See what is in there. You can explain it away as just being at a bad time in your life., $hit happens.

As long as you have not committed a Felony you are free and clear. Only Felony charges will appear on a criminal history report.

I would not worry about it ..they are looking for felony convictions that would make you a bad employee or security risk

If you ask this question from your office computer they will probable find out there. Did you lie to them in the interview. If you are already hired then you may be OK.

all of your convictions are a matter of public record & anyone has access to them

It really depends. Was it reduced to a citation, summary, misdemeanor ? If its a misdemeanor it will come up. Unlike what someone said eariler, misdemeanors are reported on background checks, unless they are more than 7-10 years old. If its a citation or summary, then they either won't see it, or they should not consider it in hiring since it would be so minor. Let me know if you have any other questions, i work for a background screening company
