What department of the navy job is better?

Department of defense employee arrested for narcotic possession.?

• 3 part question. I am currently working as a contracting officer at the US Navy NAVSUP base. I was just arrested for possession of a small amount of heroin. Upon completion of a narcotics anonymous program the arrest will disappear from record. Upon being hired I was told it would be best to come forth before HR finds out because they WILL find out. 1. My question is what is the best plan of action? Maybe I should quit the job until I get my record cleared then apply somewhere else? 2. Or maybe I should tell my HR department but I would not want to work in embarrassment for my charges or be fired on site. 3. a final question is if the record is expunged do I have to state on my next security clearance (or any job app) that I have been arrested?

  Well I know that lots of people in your industry and profession are in the same boat as you. Telling HR could go both ways. They could respect you for being honest and allow you to quit, or they would fire you regardless of being honest or not. I dont think being honest about it would make them not want to fire you. However I am not in the mind of an HR person. I have been burned by them and my life experience advice to you is that you can trust a car salesman/lawyer more than you can trust someone from HR. Goodluck. Dont worry too much because I know lots of people in the military are drug/ex drug users in the same boat as you. I hope you get clean and kick your addiction.
