How would you improve the city of Philadelphia?

How Can We Improve Our City(Detroit)?

• I live in Detroit and I really want to help improve the city. I've been trying to make a difference for years but it's almost as-if the city council works against you. In 2006 it was reported that there were 418 murders but according to a police detective the total murder count was in between 800-900 but the numbers were forged to make it look like the city is getting safer. Also, the day before Halloween has been known as "Devil's Night" for the longest. (don't know if we're the only city that has this). But unfortunatly on devil's night people go around and set buildings on fire and burn down houses. The past few years they have called it "Angels Night" and keep reporting the success of Angels Night but my brother in law is a fire fighter and said the past 2 years have not been a success the whole cities been on fire. But the city is hiding the truth about crime in the city! Many people think that the mayor is protecting the crime for some reason...what is there to do?

  I'm 20 minutes outside of Detroit. Basically, it is a lost cause. I mean, they can try to build up the downtown area but thats about it. The rest of the city is not so great. You can't walk 5 minutes without seeing a crackhead, drug deal, or some illegal activity. It is a never ending cycle. The youngsters look up to the drug dealers and see a false reality: the 'easy road to success'. Instead of going to school they would rather sell drugs for the quick buck. And the police are incredibly corrupt.
