Unfair treatment at work? what to do?
-
i am working as a carer here in UK for 7 months now.. i am also a british citizen so im allowed how many hours as i want.. i am employed as fulltime an they have given me a fulltime contract.. first my deputy manager was really nice to me and treats me fairly.. on the other hand there's this new girl at work who has just started to work same time as me, she bullies her and picks on her on everything she does.. long story short she killed herself so its just me left.. i decided to go back to college so im also in fulltime college and im a single mother.. lately ive noticed that my deputy manager at work is being horrible to me so ive asked some of the staff members for opinion and they've said to take it further because of these reasons: 1.she knows i go to college and she made me do 6night shift straight in 1week (9pm-8am the next morning) 2.one of those nights she made me stay til 9:30am just to "help her" with our clients personal care. 3.she said im on part time work now but they've never really given me a part time contract, i told her noone gave me a part time contract and she said its wrong and they hve to change it. 4.she picks on everything i do..after my night shifts, ever since she complained about me leaving stuff behind(ofcourse im only new at that time) ive tried my best not to leave anything behind.. all the other colleagues of mine praise me by how good my english is and how ive improved yet she said the way i used my english on our handover is "unprofessional" and "informal" which got me really confused as i finished high school in my country and i am currently at college and she has never been to college at all. this goes on and on but it wont fit.. so can anyone advice me what to do? bcos there is still more here!

Answer:
There is some guidance on this website. You haven't told us everything, so possibly there are grounds for claiming discrimination at work. This is clearly an unhappy ship and you would probably be well advised to seek another job (always provided that this woman will provide a reference!) You can change some things, but you can't normally change human nature and she is clearly jealous of you. http://www.thesite.org/workandstudy/working/workersrights/discriminationatwork

Firstly you need to report your worries to a solicitors rite away . You can find them in any local paper or google it . Most solicitors are taking up these cases now . Because its happening alot . And at least you will have it on record if anything bad happens .and she will lose her job over what she is doing .
