Is it illegal to take a picture of someone and put it as your Facebook profile picture?
-
If I take a picture of someone with MY camera, then set that picture as my profile picture on Facebook, is it illegal? Thanks. :)
-
Answer:
As long as said person was in a public place where there is no expectation of privacy then you may take their photo. Once it's taken the photo is copyright protected property of you, the photographer. As the copyright holder you can publish it if you wish in a non-commercial capacity, and a profile photo is hardly commercial use. So short answer...no. It isn't illegal.
