Can I get a copy of a will?

Can I get a copy of a will if I am mentioned in it? what action can I take?

  • My grandfather died in 2005, and I was only 19 at the time. My parents showed me a copy of his will, and my cousin, brother, and I are named in it. I wasn't allowed to read the entirety of the document, and when I questioned it, my parents assured me there was money in a trust for me. I am very skeptical of this, and believe they are holding the funds back from me until they see fit to hand them over, if at all. Also a year later, in 2006, the mother of my cousin mentioned in my grandfather's will threatened to sue them and they eventually gave her a lump sum of $40,000.00 without any legal action. Since my father is the executer of the will, what are my options, and can i ever get a copy of the will since I am named in it? please attorney and lawyer answers.

If you are named in the will then ask the lawyer who handled it for a copy but your father should have given you a copy since there is nothing you can do about changing the terms of your share. Maybe he is looking out for you by waiting
