What exactly is a retail investigator?

What are the limits of a Private Investigator?

• Lately, as in many many months, I have felt eyes on me. My best friend Josh and I have had this feeling when ever we are out in public areas together and when we're apart. We live many miles apart, but we see each other often. Also, when we go out, we have been crossing cities to get away from this, but its still with us. Right now, his mom is pressing charges against him for anything she can after he left her in a hurry because of the living conditions. His mom is filthy rich in this economy and she tells her youngest daughters that she never has money, which leads me to suspect that she has hire someone(s) to follow us around and track us. The scary part is that the mom leaks information to his aunt who tells him. She knows my route to work, where my girlfriend lives, where we used to hang out, and our past that isn't printed on paper from many months ago; say a good year and a half, that was when she flipped and went crazy. So a week ago, we were sitting in my living room talking about this situation, we suspect that the mom has hired a Private Investigator to follow us, mostly me; probably more then one PI. The mom is learning about information that is kept in my house and I'm the only one who lives here. She finds out how me and him meet up and where and what time, we have limited our talk on AIM, that's it, and dont log our conversations and he has his own laptop. (remember; Josh is rebellious against his mom and wont stop at nothing to get her away and the mom will not stop anything to get revenge.) So we sat in my living room while he pointed out how easy it really is to get into my living space. From a little higher then ground level, you can see straight into my living room and right at my screen and from the front if you stand on a small ladder you can see my whole living room, front to back, same thing with my room and bathroom. Not to leave this out, but I live in a dense tree area with climbable branches with many trees around me. SO HERE IS MY QUESTION Is there anyway that I can find out what the mom is doing? It has crossed to the point that this action is illegal, but we can't prove it. What are the limits of a Private Investigator? And if its not a registered Private Investigator, can we press charges against stalking/etc once we find out how this process is working.

  Suspicion does not a case make, you need proof that you are being followed or observed before you could do anything, if someone is watching you inside your home they are in violation of the law but if they are watching you in public it is legal. It sounds like your friend is providing info to your mom maybe not intentional but possibly unwittingly.~~
