Are mall Car sweepstakes legitimate?

If a person left his/her car parked at a mall parking lot for several weeks and then returned to find it gone?

  • If a person left his/her car parked at a mall parking lot for several weeks and then returned to find that his/her car is no longer there, what would this person do in order to get his'her car back, what are the legal consequences of what happened, what law did I violate (US), what will my charges be, and what can I expect to have to pay to get it back?????? DXDXDX

  • Answer:

No criminal laws were broken but the "owner" of the private property had the authority to remove an "abandoned" vehicle. Talk to Mall Security, they know where the car is. You'll only be responsible for the tow fee and storage fees and when paid, you'll get the car.

It was towed since you abandoned it on PRIVATE property. You contact the police and local tow companies or security at the Mall. You owe for the price of towing and storage.

Mall parking lots are private property. You are not allowed to keep your car there any longer than it takes to shop. This is an ORDINANCE. Yiu will have to pay towing and storage charges. Maybe $200 a day plus maybe $200 - $500 in towing. That is, IF you car has not already been sold for salvage.
