How do I report scam mail to Yahoo?

I received an e-mail, which is probably a scam. It was from [email protected]. How should I report it.

  • This e-mail says that I have won 500,000 pounds sterling in a British lottery and asks for personal information. Who at Yahoo. com should get this information. Does yahoo want to be involved in this sort of e-mail.

  • Answer:

When you open your email, you should see a button called "SPAM". Just click on it. The email will be reported and deleted from your box.

I had an e-mail allegedly from paypal asking all sorts of things including my credit card number and my atm pin number. I forwarded the spoof to paypal who e-mailed me back to say it was pshish. i also telephoned them and they were very helpful. i just think these people were going to make a forged card, use my atm pin number and straight to the nearest cash machine. I wouldn't have known till I received my bank statement

I get one of those probably once a week...don't worry yourself too much about it. Hit the spam button and put it out of your mind. The people who create those emails are losers with nothing better to do than scam some people out of money. Good for you for not falling for it.

If you get an email telling you that you have won a lottery that you never entered, you can assume it's spam, scam, or whatever label you prefer. Just delete it. They use throw away addresses and reporting it won't help. Likewise if you get one that some rich man died in Nigeria, and they need your help to get the money out of the country, and will share with you. Likewise an email from your bank wanting your pin numbers...

There's probably nobody at Yahoo to complain to. The from address of these scams (and all spam, by the way) is faked so it most likely didn't come from anyone on Yahoo. Yes, it is a scam. Just delete it! Lotteries never notify winners by e-mail. It's up to the winners to contact the lottery and file their claim and surrender their ticket. The hint here should be that you never bought a ticket, so you can't possibly win! Lotteries know that a certain portion of winning tickets will never be claimed. That's extra profit for the lottery! It is a scam. Yahoo never asks for personal information. Never, never give your personal information when asked by an email. Do not click the 'reply' button. print out the email. Close the email. go off line. turn off the computer. then turn on the computer, log back on and email to the alleged sender about the email you got. They will confirm that they did not send it.
