Why are so many people against abortion?

Because giving the baby up for adoption is better than killing an innocent unborn child. It's not fair to that some babies come out alive, and some don't. It's not right. Even if the parents don't want the child, they don't have to keep him/her.

Have you ever heard of birth control? What about personal responsibility? Are you really comparing humans to animals? Geez....

Abortion is taking the life of a human being. That is considerably different from eating a pork chop. And it is obvious from your comments that you have no connection to the one that created all life or you would know why it is wrong. Your rationale that a fetus is not alive does not agree with the opinion of the medical community. The baby is yet immature, but then maturity is not the justification we have for anyone else, so why is it okay to judge a baby by those measures. I have seen adults in nursing homes that have no more ability to think or reason than does a fetus, but I have yet to see any of them "aborted" per se because of it. Is that your next goal....?

Have you researched different methods of abortion? There's absolutely no doubt that the "fetus" suffers excruciating pain whether it's being torn apart, burned with salt, or having its head crushed. The people who are advocates of abortion are either in denial or value their own convenience more than they value treating others humanely.

Would it be OK with you if I went back in time to when your mother was pregnant with you and had her abort you...

So you think the world is overpopulated and you're willing to take other people out of the world, but you're not willing to volunteer to remove yourself. Sounds kind of hypocritical to me. Even if a fetus isn't "alive" yet, you are destroying a potential life. Plus, there is no reason (excepting cases of incest, rape, or cases in which it is almost certain that the mother or fetus would die in childbirth) that you shouldn't have the baby and give it up for adoption. That's just plain selfish. I'm sorry that it's inconvenient for you to carry it around for 9 months, but you should have thought about that when you had sex before you were ready to be pregnant. I know so many people who are infertile and would give almost anything to be able to raise a child. Animals are not as important as humans.

First, the world is not overpopulated. We have more than enough land, water and resources for everyone here. If anything the world is underpopulated. People are problem solvers. The more people working on problems the better life will be for all of us. Babies in the womb are alive. That they may not be sentient at the level of an adult doesn't make them any less human. Actually if intellectual capacity is a guide there are more than a few people who barely make the cutoff to be considered living. If there is not a gene for morality there may yet be a genetic capacity for morality. Those who make babies will out breed those who kill their own offspring. In time their children will ponder the insanity of the savages that formerly populated this planet.
