By law a TV is a possession, something you have paid for, brought home and own. You can never own your girlfriend as she is her own person and you (hopefully!) haven't paid for her...maybe if you did then you'd have a case!!

The girlfriend has a choice, the TV doesn't. Plus you can own a TV, but you will NEVER own your girlfriend....legally anyway. At least not in the western world.
