Question for people in Geneva?

Question about Bin Laden Photos and the Geneva Convention?

• People keep telling me that they can't release photos of Bin Laden because it violates the Geneva Convention. I only generally know what the geneva convention does and I wasn't sure so I looked it up THOROUGHLY. I can't find anything that says you can't release photos of the dead, in fact to my knowledge we do it consistently. We released photos of Saddam and his sons when they were killed. As far as I can read that you can't show photos that disgrace the person but just showing the body to confirm a death isn't in violation. I checked every news site I could and all i could find is that they are debating whether or not to release the photos because his body was in such bad shape it may be too gruesome and in bad taste to release the photos but they will probably release them to extinguish all thoughts that it might be a government hoax. Even on C-Span they are saying that they don't necessarily want to but will most likely release photos of his body. If it violated the geneva convention it wouldn't even be an option to release photos. Furthermore if the geneva convention was an issue I would think someone would have at least brought that point up but I haven't heard a word of it. So why are people online telling me this is the reason for not releasing his photos? Can someone explain and link (both) that releasing photos of Bin Laden violates the geneva convention?

  It is not against the Geneva convention to release a photo of a terrorist. The geneva convention does not apply to terrorists.
