I thought the gov't's job was to protect america, and protect our freedoms. Since when did it become Okay to tells us if we can have guns or not, to make sure we all have jobs or not, to give us money for cars, bail out wall street and most importantly spend my tax dollars giving everyone health care.

Answer:
Look, please understand, this isn't about responsibilities or even rights -- it's a question of public policy. Policy is about the choices people make through their elected representatives. Look at it from a personal point of view. Let's say that you choose to give money to a certain charity, and someone asks you why you have a responsibility to fund this organization, or why they have a right to your hard earned money. You'd tell the person, it's not a question of rights and responsibilities; it's a question of my personal choice. Well, that's how public policy works. Whether you, I, or anyone else likes it, the American people overwhelmingly elected Democrats to office in 2008, many of whom ran on a platform of providing a national health care initiative. So be it. This is a choice; and you've elected men and women to office to make those choices. And that's really what the ongoing debate about. Is this the right choice? Hope this helps.

Since in the absence of having health care insurance people resort to using the most expensive form of care - the Emergency Rooms - and the cost of that care is then placed on those who have insurance (in the form of premium hikes) and the tax payers. In most states car liability insurance is mandatory. Why? Because the cost of accidents must be covered whether we want to have that coverage or not. And if a person has a bad driving record there is the "Assigned Risk" coverage which all Insurance Companies must accept. Health Insurance companies do not have to accept any one who has a preexisting condition. If that person does not qualify for Medical coverage they have no other options but to remain uninsured. Insurance Companies have collected premimums from healthy clients then when they do become ill they deny their claims for coverage and drop them. The person then has to sue them in court to get the coverage that deserve as a paying client. "It’s True! Health Insurers Tell Congress They Cancel Policies of Sick Patients Category: Laboratory News, Laboratory Pathology Published: July 6 2009 Rescinding health policies of 20,000 people in past five years saved health insurers $300 million For years, Americans have heard news stories about the sick patient whose health insurance policy was rescinded in the midst of a health crisis. Now comes public acknowledgement—at a Congressional hearing no less—that this business practice exists! Executives from three of the nation’s largest health insurers admitted to this practice when testifying at a Congressional investigation recently. Observers believe the surprisingly candid acknowledgement about health insurance recessions pretty much guarantees insurers will be excluded from the health care reform debate. It may even ensure inclusion of a government health insurance plan in the final legislation which passes." it must be terrible having a tyrannical government wanting to ensure good health care for all, and not being able to force it upon you, what is your definition of "tyrannical"?

It's all a necessary part of the game when your trying to conquer the world. A wolf in sheep's clothing, that explains our government. Our leaders find every which way to deceive the public and we are to blind to see all that they do and don't do. Recession or depression it's all the same and was generated by the government and it's financial backers as a distraction to the people. Since when did our responsibility as "The People" expire? We are the employers of the government and should be vigilant in all their doings. If they can't do the job and do it right, then fire em and get someone who can. Someone with compassion for others, no hidden agendas, mercy and a genuine love for the people and not their own greed and power.

no man is an island, no man stands alone, hehe, but yes, that line from an antiquated song is relevant. it is like saying we don't need soldiers, policemen, doctors, nurses, salesmen, electricians, plumbers, etc., etc., etc. we have to live a life where we must grow plants to feed the livestock to feed ourselves, we must have hospitals to care for the sick, scientists to discover medicines to counter plagues, but we cannot do those things by ourselves, we must need the different agencies to be deputized to implement the programs, to prevent oligarchs, mnopolies, warlordism, looting. so the income we get, a fraction is removed to pay the gov't to continue the projectse and programs. to set up rules for the benefit of all, the health care for one is the responsibility of the gov't too, so that the money or tax we pay go the the coffers of the health dep't so that when one gets sick, or is hospitalized, the expenses incurred by the beneficiaries for medicines, old age, hospitalization and the like is less burdening, a part is returned as a discount ..ho hum.........more.....

It is not. There was once a sense of personal responsibility in this nation. Now encouraging inter State rivalry between health care insurance companies, to encourage insurance companies to compete more and reduce costs through such competition is something the Federal Government may try to do. But forcing the nation to adopt a poorly thought out plan just to 'get er done' does not make allot of sense.
